The effort will be run by PT Pembangunan Jaya cooperate with PD Pasar Jaya. Both parties are Jakarta City-Owned Enterprises (BUMD).

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T. Purnama acknowledged the revitalization is based on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and slated to run this year. Acting as an operator of the revitalization, PD Pasar Jaya currently is being socialized to all traders in Senen Market.

“This year starts from PT Pembangunan Jaya and later it will integrate with KAI,” he said at City Hall, Wednesday (7/29).

However, according to him, there is an obstacle hampers this revitalization that is traders approval. As the term of the revitalization is to get 60 percent approval of the existing traders.

On the other hands, the revitalization needs to be done since the building is not feasible. Moreover, some parts of the market have experienced severe fires. So the building is prone to collapse if not immediately revitalized. However, most traders do not agree because they feared if the stall price is too expensive.

In addition, in last April, from 2,260 stalls merely 30 percent of them agreed with the plan. During the revitalization they will be placed in temporary shelter.
