Rawa Badung Reservoir will Be Re-Functioned

After the demolishment towards 85 illegal buildings in Kampung Rawa Badung, RT 10 and 14/08, Jatinegara Urban Village, East Jakarta, completed, the land will be dredged to be re-functioned as a reservoir.

The reservoir which has 1.8 hectares land area is expected could minimize flood impact on Jalan KRT Radjiman and its surrounding area. 

Head of East Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Ahmad Yazied Bustomi disclosed formerly, the reservoir had 4.4 hectares land area. But it split to be 2 parts as there is road construction. On east side is 1.8 hectares located at RT 10 and 14/08. While on the west side is 2.6 hectares located at RW 10 and 08. 

85 Buildings in Rawa Badung Dam Torn Down, No Compensation

"The land is dredged immediately to construct the reservoir. The depth is about 6 meters and a park will be built around it to make it looks beautiful," said Bustomi, Thursday (8/6). 

It is targeted would be complete by the end of November and spend Rp 9.9 billion. If it is still lacking, it will use 2015 unpredicted funds. 

Besides dredging, a box culvert under Jalan KRT Radjiman would also be repaired. It connects to the reservoir on the east and west side of the road. All this time, the reservoir is damaged as illegal buildings on the east side. Actually, a part of them were burnt in 2013, but the owners re-built their building.
