Street Vendors Back to Monopolize Sidewalks in Tanah Abang

Although raid keeps being intensified by Satpol PP officer, but it does not give deterrent effect for street vendors to occupy the area of the biggest wholesaler center in Southeast Asia. Even, those monopolize some sidewalks in Tanah Abang area,  precisely on sidewalk alongside Jalan Jati Baru. 

I hope the government will act firm to street vendors as deterrent effect

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, Sunday (6/28), scores of street vendors who mostly sell clothes open their stall on the sidewalks without leaving any space for pedestrian. 

Ferry, (45) a resident of Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta, complained the existence of street vendors in Tanah Abang makes chaotic. He requested the city administration to take firm action as soon possible. 

No Tolerance for Tanah Abang Street Vendors, Ahok Says

"I hope the government will act firm to street vendors as deterrent effect," he hoped, Sunday (6/28). 

Chief of Central Jakarta Satpol PP, Yadi Rusmayadi promised he would back to crack down on street vendors in Tanah Abang Market. He claimed, he was overwhelmed to handle it due to lack of personnel. Moreover, his side also has to sterilize the National Monument (Monas) area from illegal street vendors. 

"Our personnel is limited on Sunday, as we also have to focus on guarding the Monas area and Car Free Day event," he finished.
