City Keeps Solving Beef Scarcity

Jakarta Provincial Government has taken several ways to tackle beef scarcity. Based on the monitoring in traditional markets, beef scarcity was caused by beef peddlers who closed their kiosk since August 9 ago.

We had met with PD Dharma Jaya and PD Pasar Jaya to run some steps

"Our sub-department in five municipalities had done the monitoring, and that's the result," said Sri Haryati, Head of Food Tenacity Board for Jakarta Dept. of Marine, Agriculture and Food Tenacity, Friday (8/14).

Based on the monitoring, there are still peddlers opened their kiosk, but with limited beef stock.

Beef Peddlers in Cipete Market Back to Trade

"We had met with PD Dharma Jaya and PD Pasar Jaya to run some steps," she added.

Her side together with PD Dharma Jaya still runs the livestock slaughtering at slaughtering houses in Jakarta. At the same time, PD Pasar Jaya and PD Dharma Jaya will hold frozen local beef market operation to be sold Rp 85-89 thousand/kg.

"The market operation was held on August 11-12 ago. PD Dharma Jaya prepared 30 tons of frozen beef," she continued.

According to her, the market operation was aimed to ease the residents getting enough and reachable beef.

"We also encouraged the importer, slaughter house and beef peddlers under Dharma Jaya coordination to remain run the business," she disclosed.
