City Will Launch Electronic Book Application

Jakarta Provincial Government will provide a public space as library facility. It is based on public facility development in the capital. As planned, it will be coupled with e-book launching.

We're focusing on market and hospital. We must provide room and officer, not only distributing the books

"Certainly, we're focusing on market and hospital. But library procurement must be related to space availability. Not only sending book, the room and officer must also be available," said Tinia Budiarti, Head of Library and Archive Office, Wednesday (8/19).

Her side is still motivating local people read in public space. "Predictably, paper will disappear in the next 30-50 years. So we try to use electronic book instead," she stated.

"I-Jakarta application is being developed now. Students will be able to download many books through this application. The program will be launched by Jakarta Governor Basuki T. Purnam in November 2015," she explained.

Several publishers and Regionar Working Units (SKPD)'s books are uploaded to I-Jakarta.
