Basuki Appreciates 'Saya, Perempuan Anti Korupsi' Movement

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, appreciated the movement of Saya, Perempuan Anti Korupsi (SPAK) (Anti Corruption Women) which is initiated by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Basuki assessed that women have the biggest influence for corruption.

Basuki said that a bribe could be started from official's wife. It is important for women to get corruption understanding.

"There is a saying, if you want to get a project, serve your wife well," he said during a seminar at City Hall, Tuesday (9/15).

Basuki told that he ever got gifts from his partner. But he did not accept and returned them back. He knew it could endanger him. The governor hoped women civil servant must know which activity is allowed or not.

Director of Education and Citizen Service for KPK, Sujanarko, explained that women have a precious role in social relationship, especially the family. Women could trigger both corruption and honesty.

"Women are central figure for the family. They should be able to protect their family from corruption," he uttered.
