Jakarta Mayor, Rustam Effendi asked Headmen of Sub-District and Urban Village
to add more waste bank in their region. This is essential for reducing trash
volume that must be transported to Bantar Gebang landfill, Bekasi.

“The
amount of trash volume in Jakarta currently reaches over 6,000 tons to be disposed
to Bantar Gebang. North Jakarta contributing 1,360 tons of trash
every day,” he expressed while giving waste bank aid by Koja Container Terminal
(TPK) in Koja Sub-District Office, Monday (11/9).
Therefore, to reduce the amount, his side has asked Headmen to provide
more waste banks.
There are presently 24 waste banks exist in North Jakarta. Unfortunately
it merely 17 waste banks active operating.
"Even more, ideally one RW must have one waste bank. As a
first step I ask at least one urban village have one waste bank by the expectation to reduce trash volume," he asserted.
