Basuki to Revise Gubernatorial Regulation on Demonstration

Jakarta Governor, Basuki ‘Ahok” T Purnama, ensured that his party is going to revise Gubernatorial Regulation No. 228/2015 on the control of free speech in public spaces.

We try to revise, indeed there is a mistake yesterday

In new regulation, besides three locations determined, demonstration remains permissible at other sites, as long as it does not violate the law.

“We try to revise, indeed there is a mistake yesterday,” he stated at City Hall, Monday (11/9).

But the demonstration in Presidential Palace is still prohibited. It is because it has been arranged in law No.9/1998.

“Therefore, we provide three locations. But there is an error editorial within the regulation that as if we forced people not to do any demonstration except the three determined areas,” he expressed.

In future, he added, people can run demonstration action in other locations, as long as they obey the regulation and keep orderly. While for speaking to the clause regarding the loudspeakers, will not be changed. Restrictions of loudspeakers within a maximum of 60 decibels remain apply.

“The limited loudspeaker voice is fine,” uttered Ahok.
