Sluice Gate Damaged, Tengah Urban Village Flooded

Flood hits residential in RT 01, 03 and 10/RW 01 Tengah Urban Village, East Jakarta. It is because Baru River Sluice Gate for flowing water Cipinang River is damaged.

"The sluice gate towards Cipinang River is almost malfunctioned. It's useless if it's opened because it's been covered with trash on the filter in front of it," said Nur Cahyadi (27), one of the sluice gate's guards, Monday (11/16).

According to him, the sluice gate setting is very tight. Moreover the trash carried from the headwater is so many. "So the gate towards Cililitan is only one opened. Since there are many trashes, if it's all opened it will damage the gate.

Flood started inundating the residential at 2 AM. The peak happened about 4 AM with water level between 20-100 cm. Besides the residential, some kiosks at Jalan Raya Bogor Hek junction had also been flooded. Then it receded at 6 AM.
