Handling Trash, City Cooperates with Maritime Coordinator Ministry

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat welcomed a visit of Gerakan Bersih dan Senyum (Clean and Smile Movement) taskforces team from Ministry of Coordinator for Maritime Section, Indonesia Republic, Tuesday (11/24). In that occasion, they agreed on a cooperation of pilot project program involving children as an ambassador for cleanliness.

As planned, the program will involve school children in Marunda area, Cilincing, North Jakarta. They will get an understanding of cleanliness and how to manage garbage from upstream until processing.

"All this time, it is only taught by the parents. But now, the children will teach them how to handle garbage," he expressed, after being met.

Trash Volume in S. Jakarta Remain Stable

According to him, it is not only aimed at early education, but also encourage them as a motivator and an ambassador for handling garbage.

"School children collecting garbage at once to process it," he said.

Djarot added, selection of the place is not separated from cultural heritage of Si Pitung's House and Al-Alam Mosque around the site. Later on, such program will be launched on November 28.
