Anticipating Flood, East and West Flows Need Dam

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama mentioned that currently only the middle flow handled to anticipate flood in the city. As for the west and east flows still need handling, especially for dam construction as flood anticipation.

"It's only the middle flow, since the east and west flows needs dam," said Ahok at City Hall, Thursday (11/26).
He exemplified, the location requiring dam like Tanjungan Water Pump. At the location should be built with a dam as wide as 90 hectares for west flow. While for east flow needs dam as wide as 30-50 hectares, like Marunda and Cakung Drain Dam.
Middle Flow Infrastructures Ready to Face Flood"The dam is required because there are 13 rivers flowing down from south ti north. In north the highest tide water is 2,8 meters on mainland. The water can't come out," he explained.
He uttered that the construction of embankment in the northside of Jakarta until this time have not been finished. Now the government is finishing it.
"We're working on the wall, it takes 2-3 years. If it's done, the water have to be pumped. That's why we're finishing Pluit Dam first," he uttered.
Not only that, he acknowledged will accelerate flat construction. Eventually residents living on riverbanks will be relocated to the flats.
"I need to accelerate flat construction next year," he finished.
