Djarot Wants to Use Names of National Figure as Street Name

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat expresses his desire to change one street in the capital with Soekarno-Mohammad Hatta, who are the proclaimer of Independence Day.
Ideally, Jalan Merdeka Utara should be changed to Jalan Ir Soekarno and Jalan Merdeka Selatan changed to Jalan Mohammad Hatta. Considering both names are the proclaimer of Independence Day
"Ideally, Jalan Merdeka Utara should be changed to Jalan Ir Soekarno and Jalan Merdeka Selatan changed to Jalan Mohammad Hatta. Considering both names are the proclaimer of Independence Day," he expressed, after inauguration of Jalan Usman-Harun, di Mako Marinir, Central Jakarta, Friday (2/19).
According to a presidential regulation, the authority lies in the city administration. "It depends on Mayor of Central Jakarta. If it was proposed, we would support it," he stressed.
