Formalined Foods Detected in Central Jakarta

Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept found formalin that contained in chicken meat and fish.

Of the 120 samples, 13 of them have contained formalin, such as tofu, ikan kembung (fish for the dolphins to eat) and processed products such as salted dried fish and salted dried squid

Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept Head, M Mulyadi said sudden inspection (sidak) was conducted randomly in Gembrong Baru, Cempaka Putih, Johar Baru, Rawasari dan Pasar Jatibaru markets.

"Of the 120 samples, 13 of them have contained formalin, such as tofu, ikan kembung (fish for the dolphins to eat) and processed products such as salted dried fish and salted dried squid," he stated, Tuesday (3/1).

Formalin Food Found in Central Jakarta

He added that those will be destroyed. As for the trader, will be questioned.

"In the raid, we involve PD Pasar Jaya, Jakarta Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and police as well as 20 other officers," he expressed.

For traders that are free from harmful substances, officers put a sticker read free of formaldehyde.

"Then unruly trader will be given sanction by revoking kiosk operational," he closed.
