Park Benches Stolen, City to Cooperate with TNI/Police

The thievery case of park benches installed on protocol roads is very fretful. To anticipate this thing from happening again, Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department will cooperate with TNI/police as well as the residents to secure and watch over those benches from irresponsible people.

We will cooperate with TNI/police to secure park benches from irresponsible people

“We will cooperate with TNI/police to secure park benches from irresponsible people. And if the residents saw there were people damaging those benches, they can report it directly to the police,” stated Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, Ratna Dyah, Tuesday (4/15).

City will Make Park Bench Destroyers Put Their Hands Up

According to Dyah, her department is currently inventorying the data of park benches damaged and stolen from the sidewalks. From 340 benches installed on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin until Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat since 2013, some have been damaged and stolen by irresponsible people.

“From our data, there are two benches damaged and four were stolen. Those benches were installed on Jalan Sudirman in front of FX and at Senayan golf course. The damaged benches have been removed and stored in the warehouse to be repaired and installed again later in their original places,” she uttered.

Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. Hendro Pandowo admitted that Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department has not invited his party to coordinate and secure the park benches that are often stolen. However, his ranks will still intensify patrol along the benches’ placement points.

“The act of damaging or stealing is categorized as crime. We will certainly take affirmative action,” he asserted.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, a park bench in front of Bumi Putera office, Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta, is damaged after its iron buffers planted on the sidewalk were sawed and stolen.
