Easter, Train Tickets Sold Out

As it is repeatedly going on at the weekend holiday, train tickets sold out ahead the Easter holiday, Friday (4/18). Train tickets from Jakarta towards Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, and Surabaya are all sold out. A total of 26,000 tickets from 56 trips in city operational region 1 on Thursday (4/17) and Friday (4/18) have already been booked from 90 days before the trip.

A number of residents who missed the ticket were disappointed canceling their long weekend vacation. Nita (25), a ticket buyer, has come to Senen Station from 08.00 am. But when she arrived at the counter, there was an announcement said the train tickets are sold out.

"When I came, I went directly to the counter, but tickets are all sold out," said Nita, Thursday (4/17).

Bekasi Station Blocked, Train Travel Disturbed

The same thing also expressed by Sudarminto (56), a man from Tegal (Central Java) must also hold his homecoming knowing the train ticket for Friday (4/18) are all sold out. "What can we do, I had to call the relatives in my village. If I'm not able to go home tomorrow because I cannot get any ticket," he said.

Head of Senen Station, Supendi explained that the sold train tickets are not only for Friday departure, but also for today departure. "From yesterday, the tickets are sold out. Today's tickets are already sold by 12,096 tickets, while Friday's tickets are already sold as many as 12,801 tickets. All sold tickets were meet with the capacity of the train passenger," he explained.

Supendi added, for today’s departure, from 21 existing trains, two trains have  passengers increase. Those trains are Kutoarjo Utara train that usually has 846 passengers becomes 876 passengers and Progo train heading to Lempuyangan Yogyakarta, which is usually has 848 passengers now has become 874 passengers.

As for Friday, the increase occurs in Bengawan train with Purwosari destination, whereas on weekdays only amounted to 848 passengers, and for tomorrow, it will have 904 passengers.

"The addition of a train seat quota could happen if there is an order from PT KAI management," he said.
