Puddle Handling on Settlement Road Evaluated

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama assessed that road elevation to overcome puddle at settlement did not solve the matter. It should be handled with solving the water management system.

During his visit to Tugu Selatan, Koja, North Jakarta, Basuki found an alley which is prone to puddle. Based on urban village head’s statement, Public Work’s Bina Marga is about to elevate the road to overcome puddle.

This option is chosen because the channel level is lower compared to river. As the result, water can not flow optimally and flooded the settlement.

“If that is happened, road can not be elevated. You have to think where the water is disposed,” he said, Monday (3/28).

According to him, Dept. of Water Management must investigate the channel, make sure there is no something disturbing the flow. If the channel surface is lower to river, a well must be provided to store water temporarily before disposed by water pump.
