Bendungan Melayu Bridge Repair Work Stopped

The repair work of Bendungan Melayu Bridge in Kaget Market, Jalan Raya Plumpang, North Jakarta, that had stalled is finally stopped. This condition inevitably disturbed road users, especially because four concrete nails are still left piled in the location.

Head of Roads and Bridges Maintenance Section for North Jakarta Roads Public Works Sub-Department, Sugoro, confirmed that Bendungan Melayu Bridge repair work is stopped because it is still troubled by the auction process. “ Based on the info, the problem is the auction ,” he stated, Friday (4/18).

Besides troubled by unclear auction process, Sugoro continued, the repair work is stopped also because there is no heavy equipment which used to dredge the river. “Just ask directly to Water Management Public Works Sub-Department,” he said.

Another Two Reservoirs to Be Constructed

According to Sugoro, the repair work of connecting bridge on Jalan Raya Yos Sudarso and Jalan Raya Cilincing is the authority of Jakarta Public Works Department. Therefore, he plans to coordinate with them on next Monday. “Next Monday we will discuss it with Jakarta Public Works Department,” he told.

Due to this bridge repair work stalled, some vendors in the location complained of losses. This is because the existence of equipments and materials for the bridge, like the concrete nails, makes the road often jammed. “Our income is declining. Although there is no more noisy sound from the project, traffic congestion still happens because the heavy equipments are still here,” expressed Ilham (17), a clothes vendor.
