Every Labor Has the Right to Rally, Basuki Says

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama asserted every labor has the right to rally on May Day, which falls on May 1, 2016. However, they are reminded not anarchic and damaging public facilities.

"Every labor has the right to rally," he stated, at City Hall, Friday (4/29).

It is predicted around 150 thousands from Jabodetabek will conduct a long march from in front of Presidential Palace towards Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) to celebrate May Day.

16,443 Joint Personnel Prepared to Secure May Day

There are four demands that will be shouted later. They are refusing low wage, revocation of Presidential Regulation No. 78/2015 on Equal Remuneration, and demanding the government to raise the minimum wage in 2017 amounted to Rp 650 thousand. Second, is stopping the criminalization of labor and social activist, as well as stopping laid-off workers (PHK).

Third is refusing reclamation, eviction and tax amnesty draft law which considered to harm the labor. Fourth is declaration of labor organization as a political force or a pressure group which consists of labor, honorary teacher, student, and fishermen.
