September, Registration for Jakarta Governor Opened

Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) Jakarta will open registration for governor and vice governor candidates in the upcoming September. Predictably, there will be six pairs enroll the post, both through political party or individual.

"We open registration for governor and vice governor candidates on September 19-21," said Chairman of Jakarta KPU, Sumarno, Tuesday (5/17).

Sumarno predicts, in regional elections (Pilkada) this time, there will be six pairs participated with two rounds. KPU itself has received grants for its implementation from the city administration amounting to Rp 478 billion.

Pilkada Stage Will Begin at the End of April

He added, after registration, KPU will verify the documents, especially for individual candidates. 

"After meeting the requirements, we will select pairs to go to the next round," he stated.

After all runs, the elected pair candidate will be given time to campaign which begun on October 4. KPU will determine where campaigns are allowed. There are some locations that are not allowed, such as hospitals, worship places and schools.

"It will run three months until three days prior to voting. Its location can be set later," he finished.
