Bad Trash Management, Lane along KBT Strewn with Trashes

Trash piles along the lane of East Flood Canal (KBT), precisely on the edge of Malaka Public Cemetery (TPU), Pondok Kopi Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-District, East Jakarta, are very disturbing the locals and passing road users. Besides spreading rotten smell, those trash piles are also strewn with flies and maggots.

Its smell is very sting. There are flies and maggots as well

Ika (27), a college student who always passes KBT, said those trash piles have not been transported for months. β€œIts smell is very sting. There are flies and maggots as well,” she lamented, Monday (4/28).

According to her, trashes are piling because many motorists haphazardly throw their household wastes to the area around the KBT. As a result, the trashes scattered onto the highway.

Responding on this matter, Assistant of East Jakarta Development and Environment, Andriansyah, admitted that he is disappointed with the trash management in East Jakarta, especially around KBT. β€œIt happens because there is no good coordination among Regional Working Units (SKPD) in terms of trash handling,” he stated.
