21 Venues Cited for Breaching Ramadan Operating Hours

Monitoring of entertainment and recreation venues has been intensified during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri/2026 AD. As of March 13, 2026, as many as 720 businesses and recreational establishments have been inspected.

We only shut them down if they are repeatedly non-compliant

Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Satriadi Gunawan said, monitoring aims to ensure businesses adhere to operating rules during Ramadan.

He noted that daily inspections take place across Jakarta's five administrative cities. Of the hundreds of venues checked, only a few were found to be non-compliant. Satpol PP issued administrative citations (BAP) to 21 businesses for breaching operating hours established by the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Parekraf).

"Of 720 venues monitored, it is recorded that 21 establishments were issued notices and warnings for violating the operating hours," he expressed, Monday (3/16).

Thus far, only warnings have been issued as sanctions. The bulk of violations recorded this Ramadan relate to exceeding set operating hours.

While shutting down establishments is the next step for persistent non-compliance, he noted that most business owners usually comply once they receive a reprimand from personnel.

"Currently, it is just warnings. Closing time is usually around 2 AM, so we caution those staying open until 3 AM. We only shut them down if they are repeatedly non-compliant. So far, they have been cooperative; once reminded, they follow the regulations the next day," he noted.

He believes that compliance among Jakarta’s leisure industry owners is quite good, noting that infractions are minimal relative to the hundreds of venues inspected.

He attributed this level of compliance to the prior awareness campaigns targeted at business owners regarding Ramadan rules.

“We reached out to proprietors to ensure they follow the set guidelines. As for post-Idulfitri operations, entertainment and recreation businesses will resume normal hours two days after Idulfitri,” he explained.

According to data from the Satpol PP, monitoring activities were evenly distributed across the five administrative cities, with 144 inspections conducted in each area—Central, North, West, South, and East Jakarta—bringing the total to 720. Of these, 21 businesses were issued a BAP for violating Ramadan operational regulations.
