Jakarta to Roll Out Friday WFH Policy with Sanctions for Violators

The Jakarta Provincial Government is set to implement a Work From Home (WFH) policy every Friday for civil servants (ASN).

"There are several exceptions to the work from home policy,"

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced the policy after a plenary leadership meeting held to follow up on directives from the central government. He said the policy aligns with a circular issued by the Home Affairs Ministry and decisions from relevant ministries.

"Regarding the central government's decision to implement work from home every Friday, the Jakarta administration will follow it," Pramono stated on Wednesday (4/1).

However, he emphasized that the policy will not apply to all employees, particularly those in public service roles and strategic positions.

Essential sectors such as healthcare, fire and rescue (Gulkarmat), public order (Satpol PP), the Transportation Agency, and other public services will remain fully operational.

"There are several exceptions to the work from home policy, including mid- and senior-level officials, as well as roles related to public services such as public order officers, transportation, healthcare, and fire and rescue, which will continue operating as usual," he added.

The policy will apply to administrative personnel, with a WFH quota ranging from 25 percent to a maximum of 50 percent. Technical details are currently being finalized by the Regional Secretary and the head of the Regional Personnel Agency and will be stipulated in a governor's decree.

With this policy, two working days will have special arrangements for civil servants: Wednesday as a public transportation day and Friday for WFH.

The governor also stated that the administration will enforce strict monitoring to prevent misuse of the policy, such as using it for travel. Measures include mobile attendance tracking and a ban on the use of private vehicles for ASN scheduled to work from home.

"Anyone who violates the policy will face strict sanctions," Pramono asserted.
