North Jakarta KPKP Ensures Sacrificial Meat is Safe for Consumption

The North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency conducted inspections at several locations where sacrificial animals are slaughtered to ensure the meat distributed to the public is safe for consumption. One of the inspection locations is the LDII Al-Akbar Mosque on Jalan Enim, Sungai Bambu Urban Village, Tanjung Priok District.

Head of the Sub-agency, Novy Christine Palit said the inspection includes two stages, namely ante-mortem or before slaughter and post-mortem or after slaughter.
"The animals are examined for their general physical health. After slaughter, we examine the internal organs, including the meat, liver, lungs, heart, and viscera, to ensure there are no parasites or diseases," she said, Wednesday (5/27).

"All meat is declared fit and safe for consumption," she added.
Previously, officers had also inspected 6,711 sacrificial animals at 149 sacrificial animal shelters. This number consisted of 3,005 cows, 3,511 goats, and 255 sheep.
"We have inspected all the sacrificial animals at the shelter. The results show that all animals were healthy and in accordance with Islamic law before the slaughtering process," she admitted.
Meanwhile, Head of Sungai Bambu Urban Village, Syaiful Anwar explained there are 23 sacrificial animal slaughter points spread across 10 neighborhood units (RW) and 104 neighborhood units (RT) in his area. 89 cows and 135 goats were slaughtered simultaneously today.
"We cooperate with the KPKP Unit to ensure all processes run smoothly," he stated.
