Hundreds of residents took advantage of the subsidized food program at the Payung Tunas Teratai Public Space (RPTRA) in Cipayung Urban Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta. Since morning, residents have been lining up orderly to collect food packages, which they had previously paid for through cashless transactions using Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machines.
All transactions are cashless
The manager of the Payung Tunas Teratai RPTRA, Ika Ayu Nurjanah, said that hundreds of Cipayung residents were the beneficiaries of the program.
2,294 families in Kayu Manis Urban Village Receive Food Aid"Today, residents can only pick up items purchased yesterday. All transactions are cashless using their ATM cards," she said, Thursday (7/9).
Ika explained that the Subsidized Food program from the Jakarta Provincial Government is intended for certain community groups, namely recipients of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ), Jakarta Child Card (KAJ), Jakarta Disability Card (KPDJ), Individual of Other Service Providers (PJLP), Jakarta Worker Card (KPJ), and Dasawisma cadres.
Various food commodities were sold at subsidized prices, significantly lower than market prices. A total of 555 broiler chickens were sold for Rp 8,000 per head, 554 one-kilogram packages of beef were sold for Rp 35,000, and 543 trays of chicken eggs were sold for Rp 10,000 per kilogram.
There are also 551 five-kilogram packages of rice sold for Rp 30,000, 367 one-kilogram packages of mackerel for Rp 13,000, and 370 boxes of UHT milk sold for Rp 30,000 per box.
One of the beneficiaries, Samih (63), admitted that she was really helped by the program because the more affordable food prices meant she could buy several basic necessities at once, such as rice, beef, chicken eggs and chicken.
"It's quite good for stocking up at home, as the balance is sufficient. The price is also much cheaper than the market price. I hope this program continues regularly," she hoped.
