Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, alongside the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Head, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, officially launched the Economic Census 2026 at City Hall’s Balai Agung Great Hall, Tuesday (7/14).
To me, this data is the ultimate foundation for technocratic decision-making
In his opening remarks, Pramono expressed his appreciation to BPS for their unwavering commitment to providing high-quality statistical data, which remains vital for the city’s development.
These statistics are vital for Jakarta’s strategic roadmap, influencing key programs from social welfare to education and health.
BPS Calls on Entrepreneurs to Support 2026 Economic Census"To me, this data is the ultimate foundation for technocratic decision-making. Consequently, BPS data is consistently utilized as the gold standard in almost every meeting at City Hall to guide our strategic decisions," he expressed.
As a strategic economic hub, Jakarta accounts for 16.67% of the national economy, with a strong 5.59% growth in Q1 2026. The city also boasts the lowest inflation rate in Java at 2.78%.
The impact of data-driven governance is also visible in urban development, where slum areas have been significantly reduced from 445 to 211 over the past nine years.
"This data is the foundation of every strategic move we make," he explained.
Jakarta is officially in its 'Global City' era, and that comes with next-level challenges. To handle this, Governor Pramono highlighted that the Economic Census is the key to supporting Jakarta’s transformation.
He is also asking Jakartans to be open and 'keep it real' with census officers. No gatekeeping—just accurate data.
"I really hope the data 2026 is spot on. With accurate and competitive data, we can make smarter, better moves for the city’s future," he added.
BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti emphasized that public participation is the backbone of the Economic Census 2026. She urged residents to welcome officers and provide truthful information.
As for security? It’s a top priority. She revealed that BPS has partnered with BSSN, Telkom, and Peruri to ensure all data is safely stored in their servers.
"Your privacy is guaranteed through this major tech collaboration," she noted.
Amalia added that the census teams will be hitting the streets from June 15 to August 31, visiting both homes and businesses.
"This data is a game-changer. It ensures our economic policies are spot on and accurate because they’re backed by the most complete and up-to-date facts," she concluded.
