Late for Tax Payment, 2 Percent Fined Applied

West Jakarta Tax Service Sub-Department has created many ways to raise taxpayer (WP) awareness to commit its obligations. Start by incentive dissemination, visiting public areas, until imposing fines for the late taxpayers.

This sanction is expected to provide a deterrent effect for the recalcitrant taxpayer

Head of West Jakarta Tax Services 1 Sub-Department, Supendi Daud, said that most of 1,000 taxpayers in West Jakarta are still in arrears. Therefore, 2 percent penalty per month will be given to those recalcitrant taxpayers to immediately pay their obligation.

“This sanction is expected to provide a deterrent effect for the recalcitrant taxpayer,” said Supendi on Sunday (5/4).

Besides giving financial penalty, there is also warning sanctions to taxpayers who have not paid their obligations. "We also send a warning letter. If it is not responded, we will call the person," Suspendi stated.

He admitted there is difficulty in disseminating and collecting the debt taxes to the delinquent taxpayers. Because the minimum number of employees they have. "The number of employees we have are only 13 people. While the taxpayers reached more than 1,000 persons," he explained.

The human resource limitation has made a difficulty to disseminate and collect taxes to taxpayers. Moreover, there are currently 159 hotels, 809 restaurants, 99 entertainment venues, and 76 parking locations in West Jakarta.
