Visitors who were enjoying the holiday weekend at National Monument (Monas) were surprised by the sudden cessation of the lift to the top of the monument. The lift that just repaired a few months ago was suddenly having problem on power declining around 11 AM. Luckily, there was no fatality and no one was injured in the incident.

"It happened at around 11 AM, when I want to take the lift, the lift did not want to move up and the door did not want to close," said one visitor who did not want to mention his name on Sunday (5/4).
The incident had made other visitors panicked and stopped themselves to climb to the top of the monument.

A Monas operational officer, Paryono, said that the incident was not caused by any damage, but due to a power declining.
"Due to the power voltage decreased abruptly, the lift did not want to go up, but it did not last long," he explained.
In response to the incident, Head of Monas UPT, Rini Haryani, apologized to the visitors who were disturbed enjoying the view from the top of the monument.
"We are sorry, due to this power declining, some visitors could not go to the top of the monument. In the future, we will cooperate to prepare a technician in there, so this will not happen again," she stated.
To be noted, the lift that is operated in the monument had been improved in October 2013 ago.
