PMKS in the Capital City to be Subjected Fraud Article

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama asserted to ensnare People with Social Welfare Problem (PMKS), especially beggars in the capital city with fraud article. According to Basuki, what beggars do is more to fraud acts.

It’s a contract fraud and they could be jailed for one to two years

The beggars in the capital city would be ensnared with fraud because Basuki assessed that many beggars have prosperous life and have a good life when they return to their hometown. In fact, most of them are able to build a house in their hometown from their begging act.

"So they are looking for money, for food, and building house. That's why I want to provide MoU. If they are caught again, I will not use beggar regulations. But I will use deception agreement for having deceiving Jakarta Provincial Government. It’s a contract fraud and they could be jailed for one to two years," said Basuki at City Hall, Friday (5/16).

According to Basuki, the beggars’ returning to their hometown is no longer an effective way. They often return to Jakarta for a shame feeling from their neighborhood. In addition, this step is taken because the existing social institutions in the city are no longer able to accommodate the beggars who are not a city resident.

"Thus, 61 percent of our social institutions occupied by non-city residents. The returning sometimes is ineffective because those who have returned to their hometown are back again to Jakarta," Basuki added.

To make it happen, the city government is currently drafting legislation that could ensnare the beggars with bondage punishment for deceiving contract.
