The increasing debit of Katulampa Dam waters, Bogor, will not impact Jakarta much. Jakarta Provincial Government finds the way to divide the water flow. It will not burden Manggarai sluice anymore.
Manggarai gates are widely opened at 100 cm level
Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama, admitted his side has asked to open four gates of Manggarai sluice. Three gates to flow water to West Flood Canal (KBB) and one gate to Ciliwung Lama. This way is assessed to be effective for dividing the water.
“Manggarai gates are widely opened at 100 cm level,” he said, Tuesday (10/11).
Execution Process, Traffic Around Bukit Duri DivertedAccording to him, this system prevent Manggarai sluice reaching alert 1 status. The water is divided to Gajah Mada, Hayam Wuruk, Istiqlal, Tangki, and Gunung Sahari. Previously, the lanes were empty from water.
“No alert 1 status for Manggarai sluice,” he added.
The problem is, if tidal wave hits Jakarta and the water pump is broken. Jakarta’s geography is under the sea level. If the water can be divided well, then the flood can be minimized.
