According to Benhard Hutajulu, Head of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Jalan Sunan Giri is very dense and cause congestion, especially at 6.30-10 AM and 3.30-7 PM. Hence, the one-way system will be applied on the south and north of the road.
He disclosed that the congestion is commonly caused by the rampant existence of office and school buildings. "We plan to apply the system on the south towards north or precisely in front of Al-Azhar Foundation until Mega junction on Jalan Pemuda, Rawamangun," he expressed, Tuesday (5/20).
To smoothen the plan, his sub-department is conducting a brief review and continued with traffic data survey in the field. Besides that, he also to hold a meeting with the East Jakarta Secondary Education and Primary Education Sub-Departments.
By doing so, he hopes school side wants to cooperate in anticipating congestion by sending a letter or urging verbally the students' parents do not park the vehicles on the roadside while waiting for their children at school. They are supposed to leave the school and then back again when school hours ended.
"Congestion could be minimized if the students' parents do not park vehicles on the roadside. That's why need the role of schools to resolve our problem (congestion)," stated Hutajulu.
