Reported by Hendi Kusuma | Translated by Isa Efriadi
Pedestrian Crossing Bridge (JPO) seems to be something that highly desirable for citizens who have activities on three shopping centers on East Jakarta. Those three shopping centers are, Kramat Mall on Jalan Raya Bogor Kilometers 22, Cijantung Graha Mall on Jalan Raya Bogor Kilometers 24, and Tamini Square Mall on Jalan Raya Pondok Gede. No JPO on those three locations causing many traffic accidents which involve pedestrian.
I hope that related agency can build JPO here, so that all pedestrians fell safe and comfort to cross road
Based on Beritajakarta.com observation, residents need JPO on those three locations. Residents have to be very careful crossing the road because of afraid to be hit by cars. Residents hoped that related agency to build JPO.
“I hope that related agency can build JPO here, so that all pedestrians feel safe and comfort to cross the road,” Bertha said, a visitor of Kramat Jati Mall (5/25).
Pedestrian on Jalan Gajah Mada Grabbed by BuildingBertha admitted that she is afraid when crossing the road. “Public Transportation and motorists always riding on fast speed, because there is no traffic sign or zebra cross,” she complained.
There is similar condition on Cijantung Graha Mall. The shopping centers only have one entering gate which directly connected to the roadway. “It will be better if there is JPO, visitors will also feel safety and comfort, hopefully related agency is willing to listen this advice,” Devi (21) said, a resident nearby.
On the other side, visitors of Tamini Square Mall also complain of no JPO on the area. In fact, there were many residents become victim of hit and run on the location. “There were many people got hit on this place,” Rahmat said, an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver in front of Tamini Square Mall.
Jakarta Transportation Department Head, M Akbar said, he will review and survey at first, are those locations needs JPO or not. According to him, if he built JPO but residents not use it, it will be wasteful. “We will make survey first, and this will be our concern,” Akbar said.
