Citizens Appealed to Restore Sidewalk Function

The sidewalk widening undertaken by City Provincial Government must be followed by changes in the behavior of citizens. Several locations which have been widened are instead occupied by street vendor (PKL) and illegal parking.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Sumarsono disclosed sidewalk widening aims to create convenience for the pedestrian. This is what should be socialized to the citizens.

But supervision must be increased again by the authorities, particularly in Tanah Abang area, which is currently controlled again by PKL.

"I've instructed Satpol PP to increase supervision and controllin, particularly in Tanah Abang," he exclaimed.

He plans to conduct review in the field for sidewalk problem in the capital. Several locations which have been widened are located in Tanah Abang, front of RSCM, Gondangdia Station and Blok M.

"In the near future, I will visit to the field to see the PKL who have been occupying the sidewalk and other public facilities which lead to chaotic," he said.
