Becomes Acting Governor, Basuki Maintains Full Speed

Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama is ready to be Acting Governor for Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo who will start on leave on Sunday (6/1). Even so, Basuki admitted there are no programs prioritized to be resolved immediately because all programs have been done quickly.

It’s the same, we’re already full speed

It’s the same, we’re already full speed,” he stated, Friday (5/30).

According to Basuki, until now he has not received the official letter of his appointment as Acting Jakarta Governor from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

Jokowi’s Leave Permission to Be Signed Soon by SBY

“I’m still not Acting Jakarta Governor, because Mr. Jokowi will still be signing papers on Monday (6/2). That’s why I told him to come on Monday and help me sign the papers, so I wouldn’t have to do it and my work is lighter,” he uttered.

As known, Jokowi and Basuki had met Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi a while ago regarding duties and obligations of Acting Jakarta Governor. Jokowi will be non-active governor on June 1 until October 20, 2014. During leave, Jokowi cannot use state facilities, such as home office, official car, household budget, home maintenance service budget, inventory purchase, and healthcare budget. However, he will still receive basic salary and compensation.

According to Government Regulation No. 18/2013 on Leave Permission Procedures and Law No. 42/2008 on Presidential Election, Jokowi can still sign administration papers until June 1. Therefore, Basuki will be Acting Governor on June 2. While serving as Acting Governor, Basuki can decide some strategic policies, although it must get permission from the Home Minister and have it consulted with the governor.
