The leave letter proposed by Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, had been sent and received by the Home Ministry. He was slated will be non-active governor on May 18, and all governor tasks will be taken over by his vice, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama.
Home Ministry Spokesman, Didik Suprayitno acknowledged that he has received Jokowi's leave letter and is still being processed. Regarding taking over the task, whether Basuki is appointed as Acting Official (Plt) or Daily Executive (Plh), depends on the president.

According to him, the president will issue a decree which states temporary dismissal or non-active for Jokowi. There is also any task that can be delegated to the vice governor during Jokowi takes leave. "From that, we may know whether Basuki will be Plt or Plh," he expressed.
In Home Ministry Regulation on official scripts governance, is acting official in a certain position that gets the delegation of signing authority of the script, because there is no definitive officials. As for the Plh is acting official in a certain position that gets the right to sign the official scripts, as the definitive officials is temporarily absent.
Suprayitno assessed that Jokowi's leave would be valid until presidential election announcement which falls around upcoming August and November. The Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) will use this moment to nominate him as presidential candidate.
Such leave is stated in Government Regulation No.18/2013. In this regulation, the local head who will participate in the presidential election campaign must take leave. The leave deadline is 12 days before registration at the General Elections Commission (KPU) opened on May 18.
The regulation is also reinforced by the Home Minister Regulation No.13/2009. It mentions that if the leave is approved, there will be the presidential decree thus the governor declared as non-active governor until the (KPU) announces the selected new president and vice president.
Besides proposing leave administratively, Jokowi also officially requested permission to the Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to be a presidential candidate. He visited the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (5/13) afternoon and positively welcomed by SBY.
