North Jakarta Mayor Reveals the Name of Chosen City Secretary

It has been 14 months Jakarta Provincial Government runs without definitive city secretary. Until now, Wiriyatmoko is still placing the position as acting official. Some names have been mentioned as strong candidates, but the final is disclosed today by one of those strong candidates, North Jakarta Mayor who is also Acting Head of Regional Head and International Cooperation Bureau (KDH KLN), Heru Budi Hartono.

Mr. Saefullah (Central Jakarta Mayor) is the City Secretary

“ Mr. Saefullah (Central Jakarta Mayor) is the City Secretary . I’m still not deserved (to be city secretary). He is senior, he is more deserved,” stated Hartono, Monday (6/2).

Hartono and Saefullah were often mentioned to fill in the position left by former city secretary Fadjar Panjaitan who resigned to run for legislative member in the House of Representative (DPR). Saefullah is one of nine Jakarta civil servants (PNS) who took competency test in Sahid Hotel some time ago.

Without a Definitive Sekda, City Administration Runs Smoothly

The position of city secretary is very important to maintain bureaucracy and City Budget (APBD). Moreover, non-active Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo is currently busy with his presidential candidate activities. Thus, acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama needs definitive city secretary to help his duties.

Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi has also received three names proposed as city secretary candidates. As an echelon I official, city secretary election must go through Presidential Decree.
