Officers of Kapuk Teko Public Cemetery (TPU), Kapuk, West Jakarta, have not been paid by West Jakarta Cemeteries Sub-Department. As a result, they had to lend money to their neighbors to meet daily needs.

I had to loan some money to the neighbors since I haven’t received salary for two months,” said Nurahman, one of Kapuk Teko Cemetary officers, Monday (6/2).

According to Nurahman, he and his colleagues recieve Rp 2.4 million per month. However, the salary is never paid monthly by related department that argued they are still waiting for budget disbursement in province level.

“Our salary is only Rp 2.4 million.  If possible, we would like it to be transferred every month through DKI Bank (account). Moreover, it is now the time for school enrollment,” he uttered.

Responding this matter, Head of West Jakarta Cemeteries Sub-Department, M Yuswardi, admitted there is a delay in the salary payment of cemetery officers since the budget has not been disbursed. However, he promised to pursue the salary to be paid this month.

“The fund has not been disbursed yet, but we will continue to coordinate with Jakarta Provincial Government so the salary could be disbursed this month. I hope the cemetery officers to be patient,” he stated.
