Train Rams Into Innova Car, One Died

A train rammed into a black Kijang Innova car B 1795 RFJ at railway crossings, Jalan Administrasi Negara, Bendungan Hilir, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3). The incident killed the car driver, Japen Purba (57) at the scene, while the passenger, Tetty Saragih (51), suffered severe injuries and immediately rushed to nearest hospital.

Chief of Tanah Abang Sector Police, AKBP Anom Setyadji disclosed the dead victim was bounced off after being hit by train from Palmerah at high speed. "The driver died at the scene and its passenger injured," he stated, Tuesday (6/3).
Unidentified Man Hit to Death by TrainSetyadji explained the accident occurred when the car driver recklessly passed through the railway crossings, even though train had given lights and alarm. "The train doorstop is indeed open, nevertheless the train has given signal to the victim," he expressed.
According to local citizens' information, the doorstop has been damaged more than three years. "The doorstop is not belong to PT KAI, but the results of the non-local people," he told.
He lamented the fatal accident involving car and train is caused by malfunctioned train doorstop. "Whereas, the doorstop is very important as a road user security facility," asserted Setyadji.
Based on the data, the victims are identified as civil servants, living at Jalan Api Unggun, No.63, RT 05/07, Bojong Rawalumbu, Bekasi City. "But we have yet to get further information about the victims' office," he admitted.
Jayadi, (28), an eyewitness told that the driver did not hear the warning sign while trying to pass the railway crossings. "The victim did not hear the warning sign, moreover the doorstop was open at that time," he explained.
He added that such incident occurred around 5.30 AM where the traffic was still quiet. "The driver is a man, died at the scene, while the passengers is woman, suffering severe injuries in the head," he reported.
