Library Dept. Adds 9,600 E-Book Softcopies

Jakarta Library and Archival Dept. has added 9,600 softcopies of library e-books this year. It is done, because many readers have to wait in line to borrow a book.

It is to minimize long queues

According to Iwan Henry Wardhana, Section Head of Deposit, Service Collection Development and Preservation for Jakarta BPAD, he already has a book list of most frequently borrowed or read.

1.2 Million Library Visitors Targeted This Year

"It is to minimize long queues. For instance, we have one book title about 10 softcopies, we inject them again into 50 copies," he described, Tuesday (3/7).

Fund for additional e-book is reaching Rp 1,056,000,000. The existing book is the results of the selection team with a librarian or team through the trends of public reading.

"We select from 18 publishers who already have a list of cataloged books," he stated.

For the information, the dept. already has 12,724 book titles, 190,164 softcopies and 115 libraries from 18 publishers.
