December, 14 At-Grade Intersections in Jakarta Closed

Closure of 14 at-grade intersections between railroad crossings will be applied in three stages. The first stage will be trialled in April 2017.

It is done, because there has been an underpass or a flyover near the railway

There are four at-grade intersections that will be closed, starting from Jl. Pejompongan 1, Jl. Pasar Minggu, Jl. TB Simatupang and railroad at Pondok Kopi.

Matraman Underpass Constructed Starts

Second, it will be applied from Jl. KH Hasyim Ashari, Jl. Bandengan Utara, Jl. Bandengan Selatan, Jl. Angkasa and railroad at Karet Bivak. 

Third, it will be done from Jl. Pramuka 1, Jl. Pramuka 2, Jl. Tubagus Angke, railroad at Pejompongan 2, as well as Jl. Makam Pahlawan Kalibata.

Edi Nursalam, Director of Railroad Safety for Directorate General of Railroad under Transportation Ministry said Transportation Ministry has reported the closure plan to Jakarta Provincial Government.

"It is done, because there has been an underpass or a flyover near the railroad," he stated, at City Hall, Wednesday (3/22).

Based on the schedule, those intersections will be closed in the forthcoming December.
