A canopy on sidewalk on Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya, Kartini Urban Village, Sawah Besar Sub-District, Central Jakarta, collapsed after being hit by a tree branch. This caused the project of Jakarta Emergency Dredging Initiative (JEDI) looks messy and disturbs the pedestrians.

That condition has been happening for a week. The tree was probably cut down to build a stake for the river. But until now, no one wants to evacuate the canopy and tree branch

Sidik, a security officer of RW 05 Kartini, said the incident was actually happened a week ago. Unfortunately, related units never resolve the situation.

When beritajakarta.com asked for confirmation from Head of Central Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Jansen Saragih, the official said that sidewalk on Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya is the authority of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department.

“Whether permit as well as technical implementation, it is the authority of that department. So, if you wanted to ask about the collapsed canopy and tree branch which haven’t been evacuated, you can ask them (Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department),” he stated.
