Childbirth Cost Not Paid Off, Patient’s ID Card Confiscated

The hope of Sujana Rosita Wahid (31) and Darsinah (26) to immediately have birth certificate for their daughter Dzifara Dwitania Assyifa, who have born normally in Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital, must be delayed. This is because the Identity Card (KTP) of resident who lives in Gang 8, Blok R, RT 14/08, Semper Barat Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-District, North Jakarta, is still confiscated by the hospital due to not able to pay off her childbirth cost.

From the data I received from BPJS Administration, the mother is covered by BPJS, but the baby still not listed. Thus, she is still charged for treatment bills. That is the rule

The patient who has Jakarta Health Card (KJS) was asked to pay the childbirth cost for Rp 559,200. But because their money is not enough, they can only pay for Rp 249,100. As for the remaining Rp 304,100, it is still not paid until now. Initially, Darsinah was referred from Cilincing Sub-District Community Health Center (Puskesmas).

City Has Fulfilled Residents’ Basic Needs

“I’ve asked why KJS patient have to pay it, while she was actually had gone through referral. They (the hospital) answered it is because the referral was for operation, but the fact she gave birth normally. Thus, the she must pay it,” uttered Wahid, Wednesday (6/11).

To pay off the bill, Wahid admitted that he cannot afford it, because his salary as a security officer in an apartment in Sunter is only Rp 1.5 million per month. For daily needs, besides he must pay the cost of his wife and new baby, he also has to support their first daughter, Putri Ayu Anggraini (7).

“The birth certificate for Dzifara Dwitania Assyifa cannot be made until now because my wife’s identity card is still confiscated. The hospital called yesterday and asked us to pay, but I do not have money,” he said.

Head of Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital Public Relations and Legal Division, Harif Fadillah, acknowledged that Darsinah is their patient who must pay some bills.

From the data I received from BPJS Administration, the mother is covered by BPJS, but the baby still not listed. Thus, she is still charged for treatment bills. That is the rule,” stated Fadilllah.
