Jakarta Bay Reclamation Must Be Finished, Basuki Says

The plan of reclamation for 17 islands in Jakarta Bay is being finalized by City Government. Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama responded positively the interest of a Tiongkok company, Fuja Group, who wants to join in the project. In fact, they must have enough capital, including to fund the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project in Jakarta Bay.

If they want to fund everything, it’s fine

According to Basuki, if Fuhai Goup is interested, the company can merge themselves to the coastal dredging for property development. They are allowed if they could and be responsible to the funding and its development.

“If they want to fund everything, it’s fine,” said Basuki at City Hall, Thursday (6/12).

Besides that, Basuki explained the obligation of all involved companies if they want to merge to this mega project; they have to participate in stage A of three main stages. The stage A involves the 17 islands reclamation along with Sunda Kelapa embankment elevation, meanwhile the stage B is the embankment construction and Stage C is the Giant Sea Wall construction process.

“The obligation to finish the stage A NCICD in the land is the longest process, and it becomes the obligation of all island developer. That’s what I sign and barter with them,” added Basuki.

Currently, there are six companies are involved in the islands reclamation project. Three of them are BUMD (Regional Owned Enterprises) namely PT Jakarta Propertindo, Pembangunan Jaya and Jaya Ancol, while the rests are state enterprises namely PT Agung Podomoro Land, and PT Intiland Development, as well as Fuhai Group.

The funding is estimated to spend Rp 200 trillion, and the consortium companies will not get the City Budget funding. The reclamation is aimed to extend the city area equipped by tidal wave blocker and becomes the housing, business, and shopping center.
