640 Sidewalk Violators Netted in S. Jakarta

Since August 2-14, there were 640 sidewalk violators netted on Sidewalk Awareness Month operation. The most violation was in Kebayoran Baru Sub-district. 135 vehicles were netted in that area. On the contrary, there were just five vehicles netted in Pesanggrahan Sub-district.

Sidewalk is a part of public facilities and needs to be maintained as it should be

South Jakarta Vice Mayor, Arifin said, Sidewalk Awareness Month is the realization from Governor instruction No. 99/2017 related to sidewalk re-function for pedestrian.

"Sidewalk is a part of public facilities and needs to be maintained as it should be," he said when he led the assembly at Cilandak Sub-district Office yard, Monday (8/14).

Two Weeks, 1,888 Vehicles in West Jakarta Netted

In the operation, 45 vehicles were netted. From that number, 16 motorcycles and 10 cars were flattened, 9 public transportation were ticketed BAP, 8 cars were towed, and 2 motorcycles were transported by personnel.

Previously, during August 2-13, South Jakarta Transportation (Sudinhub) netted 595 violators. In detail, there were 351 motorcycles, 134 cars, and 5 bajajs flattened, 32 four-wheeled vehicles were towed, and 59 public vehicles were ticketed BAP, and 8 motorcycles were transported.

Moreover, there were six riders sanctioned to push up because they passed on the sidewalk.

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept. Head, Cristianto hopes sidewalk violator number can be reduced on the next week.

"We hope road users are more aware of sidewalk function which is intended for pedestrian use," he closed.
