5 Speedboats Belong to City Transportation Dept Damage

A total of five speedboats belong to City Transportation Department serving Muara Angke – Seribu Islands route were damaged. The lack of care is thought to be the cause of damage to the boats.

Of 12 speedboats owned by Jakarta Transportation Department, currently there are only three viable boats, ie Catamaran, Catamaran 2, and Paus Boat, while Kerapu Boat 1 to 4 and Catamaran 3 are damaged. For KMP Lumba-Lumba 1 and 2 is down for maintenance, while two other Kerapu Boat are serving Kali Adem Port – Marunda Flat.

Samsir (43), boat technician confirmed that 5 speedboats owned by Jakarta Transportation Department suffered damage in its engine part. "The damage of four Kerapu Boat have already happened almost in a month. The damage occurs in the lower gears, pumps, as propellers, and bent propellers. Lastly, yesterday Catamaran 3, one of its four engines, the as propeller broken," he said on Sunday (6/22).

Ahok: Jakarta to Be More Civilized

According to Samsir, the damage caused by the operating time is beyond the stipulated time, also caused by some rubbish or wood caught while sailing. "I report to the leader about this damage, but until now there has been no response," told Samsir.

Section Head of Facilities and Infrastructure UP Water and Ports of Jakarta Transportation Department, Kamaru Zaman, justified this circumstances. In fact, today KMP Paus is sailing with only 3 engines as the another machine is damaged. "Forced to be dispatched because the passengers have purchased tickets. An engine is damaged due to a problem on the sensor," he added.

Zaman admitted to routinely perform a total overhaul (docking) every the end of a year. So at the beginning of the year, these ships are ready to operate. However, because of the current budget is not disbursed from Jakarta Transportation Department, then for a while the boat service operations implemented by self-managed with a budget of approximately Rp 9 billion.

Meanwhile, the Head of UP Water and Ports Transportation Department, Tri Hendro, admitted that  there is a special budget allocated for the maintenance of the boats.

"The budgets are being prepared. The amount is what we are calculating. After completion, we will fix it as soon as possible," he admitted.
