Gobang Batik Central will Be Appointed as Tourism Destination

Gobang Batik Central which located on Jalan Karya Utama Terusan, G Alley no. 9, Srengseng, Kembang, will be appointed as tourism destination besides Kota Tua and Srengseng Urban Forest.

Its patterns show Jakarta icons such as gigi balang and ondel-ondel

West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-dept. Head, Linda Enriany said Gobang Batik is an authentic batik from Betawi. It becomes one of property cultural heritage and got certification from Education and Culture Ministry.

"Gobang Batik is made to preserve Betawi culture and it needs to be promoted. Its patterns show Jakarta icons such as gigi balang and ondel-ondel," she explained, Tuesday (11/7).

She affirmed her side will promote Gobang Batik Central as one of favorite tourism destinations.

"Tourist can see directly the process of making Gobang Batik in location. We will promote this," she added.

Kembangan Sub-district head, Agus Ramdani said, his side will promote this handmade Betawi batik in OK OCE program in order to develop new business.

"Not only watching batik making by PKK cadres or local residents, tourists can also buy Gobang Batik in production houses," he closed.
