City-BPPT Have Signed MoU on Project of Garbage PLT

City Provincial Government and Assessment and Application of Technology Agency (BPPT) have signed a memorandum understanding (MoU) about assessment, implementation and socialization of technology to support development, Wednesday (12/20).

This is a pilot project and I hope can see the effectiveness of it

One of the implementation of the agreement is the pilot project of the garbage power plant (PLT) at Bantargebang Landfill.

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, appreciated the efforts of BPPT that have done the study and research about PLT.

"We prepared a land and BPPT will prepare its technology. This is a pilot project and I hope can see the effectiveness of it," he expressed.

He hoped, this pilot project could work well thus can solve garbage problem with the bonus of electricity production. In future, each region is required to prepare similar technology to reduce the burden of garbage sent to Bantargebang.

BPPT Head, Unggul Priyanto explained his party has held a feasibility study of construction and is planned to be completed this month. As planned, its construction will begin in early 2018 and is targeted to be done by the end of next year.

"In a day, it can absorb 50 tons of garbage and electricity generated by 400 Kilowatts. We hope this power plant to be emulated throughout Indonesia if it succeeds," he said.

To realize the project, his side would prepare Rp 90 billion through APBN. His party focuses on handling garbage quickly than using electricity production.

"Electricity production is just a bonus, it's important how to destroy garbage," he said.
