Anti-Diphtheria Immunization in Jakarta is Highest Than Other Cities

The Indonesian Health Ministry, appreciated Jakarta Provincial Government's achievement over realization of Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI) about diphtheria. Since it begins last December, its immunization has touched 59 percent.

The city is the first province holding adult immunization through APBD

Elizabeth Jane Supardi, Director of Surveilance and Health Carantine disclosed ORI diphtheria in Jakarta is the highest one than other cities. As comparison, up to early January 2018, West Java only gets 38.7 percent and Banten gets 55.3 percent.

All Children in Jakarta Must Get Diphtheria Immunization

Additionally, she expressed the ministry is supporting the city's program to hold diphtheria immunization for adult.

"The city is the first province holding adult immunization through APBD," she stated, Wednesday (1/3).

To avoid waste of budget, the city was hoped to confirm distribution to the Bio Farma as immunization provider. Thus people who have been immunized are not recorded and add to the funding burden.

Further, immunization must also be mapped thus able to anticipate people in areas that prone to diphtheria. They are like workers of factory whose work location is a gathering place for many people.

"So it should be prioritized, as diphtheria is transmitted directly. That's why we believe city can do it," she stated.
