Low Budget, Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Dept Performances Suboptimal

The inconsistency of Central Jakarta Administration in implementing prohibition on street vendors selling on sidewalks is harming the pedestrians because they had to walk on roadsides. On the other side, the street vendors reasoned they do so because related unit does not provide places for them to sell and not giving enough guidance.
Indeed, we don’t give much guidance to street vendors, because there is no budget to do it this year
Responding this, Head of Central Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Sri Indrastuti, admitted cannot do much because of the low budget disbursed from the 2014 City Budget (APBD). As a result, the department seems to give fresh air to street vendors to rule public facilities like sidewalks.
“Indeed, we don’t give much guidance to street vendors, because there is no budget to do it this year,” she stated, Monday (7/7).
Perez Overwhelmed in Controlling Car Rim Sellers on Jalan Cideng TimurIndrastuti acknowledged that giving guidance to street vendors is very vital to realize orderly street vendors who know their rights and obligations as well as not disturbing other public facility users. According to her, in the function of guidance to street vendors, there are some things need to be explained to them, such as retribution collection and the arrangement of street vendors.
“Guidance must be in accordance to governor regulation because it is our duty, which is very important. Guidance also must be done routinely so the street vendors aware the rules, understand about retribution fee, and not open stalls haphazardly,” she uttered.
For that, Indrastuti hopes for the budget for guidance to street vendors to be included in next year’s city budget. Thus, the problems exist now can be resolved.
