Basuki Wants Multifunction ID Card for Civil Servants

Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama assessed that the e-ID card function is merely used as identification only. Whereas, the funds spent on the program is huge. Learning from that experience, Basuki would draft the  multifunctional ID card for civil servants thus it can be used for various purposes.

When I was in collage, the bank had drafted student card integrated to the bank. As I said before, e-ID card is integrated to all banks, thus it is multifunction

"When I was in collage, the bank had drafted student card integrated to the bank. As I said before, e-ID card is integrated to all banks, thus it is multifunction," he said, Tuesday (7/8).

According to him, fund allocation for e-ID card program is higher if it is used as identification. Supposedly, it could also used as ATM card to ride the Transjakarta bus, train, etc.

Thousands of Citizens in Jakarta Have Not Received e-ID Card

"I hope Jakarta could also impose the same card for civil servant through non-cash transactional system. They and PHL in Jakarta have to use the card (Jak Card)," he expressed.

He expressed DKI Bank is still processing the Jak Card which will be designated to new civil servants serving under Jakarta Provincial Government. "But for echelon-II officials, they remain use the old card. The card processing will be conducted gradually," he told.

Besides limited function, its e-ID card issuance takes a long time and uneven. No wonder, many people complain because they have not received e-ID card until now.

"Some have been through e-ID card recording in 2011, but they have not received e-ID card since three months. Hopefully, the e-ID card can be printed soon thus they do not need wait for a long time," asked Suprianto, Head of Rawa Bunga Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta.
