Jakarta Built Landscape Technical Implementation Unit (Lokbin UPT) will soon renovate Munjul Lokbin in Cipayung Sub-District, East Jakarta, so the place could accommodate more traders. The lokbin which started operating in 2004 will also be equipped with mushola (small mosque), public lavatory (MCK), and wide parking lot. For that, the renovation is predicted to cost budget up to Rp 10.2 billion.
If there were no obstacles, the renovation would be done in February next year. As for its design, it is still being discussed by sub-district head and the traders
Head of Jakarta Lokbin UPT, Orada Sinurat, said the renovation will be done as soon as possible. It is conducted to respond the complaints expressed by traders who claimed their income keeps decreasing by the rampant presence of street vendors selling outside Munjul Lokbin. Because the street vendors sell the same thing as sold by the traders inside the lokbin, the buyers become reluctant to go inside.
“The location occupied by the street vendors belongs to PT Jasa Marga. Later, if all street vendors have been accommodated in the lokbin, the location will be returned its function into green belt. If there were no obstacles, the renovation would be done in February next year. As for its design, it is still being discussed by sub-district head and the traders,” he uttered, Thursday (7/10).
15 Years, Tegal Alur Lokbin Market AbandonedMeanwhile, Head of Cipayung Sub-District, Iin Mutmainah, stated that the existence of Munjul Lokbin is really helping local economy because it is the only traditional market in Cipayung.
“The more complete and supporting its facilities, I’m sure the economic rotation would be bigger and more develop,” she told.
